Tackle the Kitchen: 2023 Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring is a great time to give your kitchen a deep clean and freshen things up! A spring cleaning checklist for your kitchen should include wiping down surfaces, deep cleaning appliances, decluttering countertops, and organizing your cabinets.

Step 1: To get started, clear off all the surfaces and counters, taking time to get rid of any items that you don’t use or need. Make a pile to donate and a pile for the trash or recycle bin.

Step 2: Then, give your appliances a deep clean inside and out, paying special attention to the refrigerator and oven. Make sure to throw out all the out of date stuff that’s been shoved to the back of the fridge.

Step 3: Don’t forget to wipe down the walls and sweep & mop the floors as well!

Step 4: Finally, organize your cabinets and drawers to make sure everything has its place. Ours tend to go from organized to mess really quickly.

Cleaning Your Bedrooms

No one likes to think of the state of their bedroom, but it’s time to face the truth: your bedroom is a disaster! (Okay, maybe that’s just me talking to my teenagers.)

As the core of your home, it needs special attention. Here is a simple spring cleaning checklist for deep cleaning your bedroom.

First, start with the basics:

  • dust the furniture
  • mop the floors and vacuum the area rugs & carpets
  • change the bed linens
  • dust off the frames of your pictures
  • You can also get into all those nooks and crannies where dust likes to hide. Be sure to pay special attention to the tops of shelves and other hard-to-reach places. I am the worst when it comes to dusting… it’s my least favorite chore.

  • clean out your closets, drawers and nightstands.
  • Donate any clothes that no longer fit or you haven’t worn in months, and organize your drawers so you can easily find what you need. Make sure to store all off-season items in the attic or garage. I store mine in a tote in my closet for easy access.

Finally, do a daily cleaning checklist.

  • Vacuum the rug once a week
  • clean up any clutter and launder your bedding every other week.
  • Put away any extra pillows or blankets that don’t belong in the room
  • give everything a good wipe down as needed.

By following this simple spring cleaning checklist, you’ll be sure to have a sparkling bedroom that you can be proud of!

It’s Now Time To Tackle the Playroom

Ah, the playroom: the joyful center of your home, filled with laughter, creativity, and (on a not-so-good day) toys and books everywhere. (Ok… that’s most days.)

Getting your playroom ready for spring cleaning can be a daunting task, especially if you’re a busy mom. But don’t worry – I’ve got your back!

Daily Cleaning Checklist:

• Vacuum any loose crumbs or dirt from the floor

• Wipe down surfaces with a damp cloth

• Put away toys and books that have been left out

• Do a quick sweep for dust bunnies

Simple Spring Cleaning Checklist:

• Declutter toys and books by sorting them into categories

• Organize bookshelves and drawers to create more space

• Clean any dust off of light fixtures and fan blades

• Vacuum and mop the floors

• Wash any removable fabric toys and stuffed animals

• Get rid of any broken or unused toys

• Sanitize any surfaces with an antibacterial spray or wipe

• Donate or recycle toys that aren’t being used. (Make sure your kids aren’t watching when you do this or you won’t be getting rid of much.)

Now your playroom is ready to face the spring season with a refreshed look and a sense of order. And, if you’re feeling ambitious, you can also tackle a few fun projects like adding a splash of paint or decorating with wall art! Have fun!

The Garage/ Attic/ Basement

It can be intimidating to tackle the daunting task of spring cleaning in the garage, attic, and/or basement. That’s why I usually put my husband up to the task. After all, it is filled with mostly his things… and spiders.

Begin your spring cleaning by taking out all large items such as seasonal items and organizing them into labeled boxes or bins.

Don’t forget to dust any shelving or furniture pieces that may be down there.

Vacuum, mop, and sweep the floors to remove any dirt and debris.

Wash any windows and organize tools and gardening equipment.

For a deep clean, it’s important to clear out any unnecessary items like old clothes, broken electronics, and furniture that you no longer need.

Donate anything still usable or recycle anything that isn’t.

Clean the walls and ceilings if necessary to remove cobwebs and other dust buildup.

Take care of any pending repairs such as sealing any cracks or replacing any damaged flooring.

Finally, freshen up the space with a scented candle or spray some room deodorizer.
